Cushions and blankets
2021
Each cushion is hand-woven in a workshop in San Jacinto, a municipality in the North of Columbia. Similar to the production of the hamacas, which are typical for the region, it is the artesanas, the craftswomen, who produce the textiles on vertical looms. The stripe pattern is inspired by the Chumbe Inga, a traditional Colombian garment It takes up to ten days for the women artisans to produce one cushion. The blankets are made from soft cotton and interspersed with metallic threads for a lustrous shine, while the short fringes add a playful touch. Each blanket is made by hand in small workshops in Cundinamarca, a suburb of Bogotá.
